Immunotherapy in Allergic Rhinitis:
Where Have We Been and Where Are We Going?

Educational Objectives
Upon completion of this session, participants should be able to: 1) discuss the factors that determine efficacy for subcutaneous immunotherapy; 2) discuss the cost-effectiveness of subcutaneous immunotherapy; 3) discuss the possible preventive effect of subcutaneous immunotherapy in the development of asthma; 4) explain the new immunotherapy approaches including CpG oligonucleotides adjuvants/oral immunotherapy/peptide constructs/recombinant allergens; 5) review relevant clinical studies published with the above (cited) methodologies; 6) evaluate evidence-based medicine for sublingual immunotherapy; 7) evaluate efficacy and safety of sublingual immunotherapy in adults and children; 8) evaluate the long term effect of sublingual immunotherapy; 9) evaluate the progression of atopy with sublingual immunotherapy; and 10) evaluate dose efficacy of sublingual immunotherapy.

Target Audience
The program is intended for all practicing allergist/immunologist…fellows in accredited allergy/immunology training programs and primary care physicians who care for allergy patients.
